Chronicler – Lilia
We return to our heroes as they venture upon their second quest: An attempt to prevent the goblins form further sabotaging trade with [That one town].
When first our heroes received their mission, they were in confusion. The goblins were not stealing the food as the trolls were to use for their own good – no, the goblins were simply burning the shipments. How ever could such creatures be reasoned with?
Yet our heroes did not despair! They set off to the town of [name] with confidence… Most of them at any rate. The Silent Hero appeared less than confident, given that he had hailed from the town of [name]. With quick problem-solving, his comrades disguised his appearance with amazing skill, making him look like an old, frail woman – and thus, none in the town suspected that he ever had visited the place before.
As they arrived, the heroes quickly made for the town sheriff. And though they at first mistook her for a woman of the night, they soon made a plan with her to use the town’s men to fight the goblins, perhaps take some as prisoner, perhaps to attempt what had previously been met with absolute failure – to follow them to the place they made camp.
Then! With an unexpected twist of events, with help of only his wits and previous knowledge of the town, the Silent Hero discovered the goblins’ camp. The heroes, throwing caution (and the help of the town’s men) to the wind, crept into the camp that very night. They discovered there much more than they had bargained for…
They snuck through hundreds of goblin tents to a unique and intriguing cave where they discovered the development of goblins. Hundreds upon hundreds of pods spiraled down the cave, each pod cradling a goblin in some stage of development, from embryo to adult. The heroes were shocked and awestruck – and then the Short Hero [better name… I don’t know Nate’s character well yet] took it upon himself to rid the world of the terrible goblin raids once and for all. He was about to destroy the device that kept the goblins alive when the heroes paused, thinking perhaps that mercy might be warranted.
They spared the goblins – and immediately they regretted their decision. A wizard, laughing at their mercy, locked our heroes in the cave and awoke the goblins. Within seconds, several goblins had torn free from their pods, attacking our heroes with a fury. Battle ensued. The Hero of Nature’s Finest unleashed his poison dart frog, and the Druid Hero befriended a goblin in the hopes that it could convince the others not to attack. But a thick fog clouded the cave, blood spraying through the air as more goblins tore from their pods to attack our heroes.
Then, woe! The Silent Hero had produced some incantation to open the barrier the wizard had set! He seized the key to the Goblin-Creator and with it, he darted into the fog and battle, emerging unscathed at the bottom of the cave where he inserted the key and found that he could dial the goblins’ moods from FURY to HAPPY.
Immediately, the fighting ceased. Goblins, confused, rubbed their heads, looked sadly over their fallen comrads, and apologized, uncertain why they had acted so barbarically. Soon, our heroes deduced that the wizard had been controlling the goblins’ minds. The heroes quickly made friends with the now-kindly goblins, bringing their leader to meet the sheriff such that they might discuss the past and make plans for the future to work together in harmony.
And so, our heroes, victorious in their second quest, returned to their base of operation, seeking once more, a mission to help Verantia and to continue their quest to defeat evil (or to get their next paycheck).
